Say cheese and die by rl stine5/29/2023 ![]() ![]() ![]() At least half of them are silly, the characters psyching themselves and each other out, but as a strategy for getting reluctant readers to keep reading, it’s extremely effective. The pacing is spot-on, and Stine is at the top of his game with cliffhangers at the end of almost every chapter. Even as an adult, this book holds up well. Really, I came by it naturally.) It’s also probably my second-favorite Goosebumps book of all time, after One Day at Horrorland because Ray Bradbury hit me early with the spooky carnivals. ![]() (I was a weird kid, and he’s a horror lover himself. Thoughts: This was one of my favorite Goosebumps books when I was growing up, prompting a number of playground reenactments with the book’s major villain (aka my dad) chasing me into the jungle gym. Can the camera tell the future, or is it causing terrible things to happen? Could it be that the camera is cursed? Trigger warnings: death, car accidents, injury, stalking, bullying, threats. The pictures keep coming out wrong, showing the subjects in terrible accidents that Greg is horrified to realize soon come true. Does the camera show the future? Or does it actually cause bad things to happen?”Ībout: When Greg and his friends investigate an abandoned and supposedly haunted house in his neighborhood, he finds a spooky old camera that takes strange pictures. “What was the truth about the camera? he wondered. ![]()
